Beginning, present and future

Our origins, past and present

Our company was founded on the 1st June, 1991, as the result of the merger of two experienced companies in the market:

Aceros Fortuna S.A. + Inoxmetal S.A. = TK Fortinox S.A.

Both were importers and marketers of Stainless Steels. Aceros Fortuna S.A. belonged to Group Krupp A.G. from Germany, a traditional steel producer, and Inoxmetal S.A. belonging to an Argentinean family company.

In the year 1998, Krupp becomes the majority stakeholder of Fortinox S.A., with enabled us to begin construction of our current Service Centre focused on importing, commercializing, and processing of STAINLESS STEELS, located in area of Garín, in the province of Buenos Aires.

During the same year, Krupp A.G. also began its merger with another steel giant of Germany, Thyssen A.G. In this way, the current ThyssenKrupp was formed.

Thyssen + Krupp = ThyssenKrupp AG

The main stakeholder of our company is ThyssenKrupp Services A.G., a division of ThyssenKrupp A.G., dedicated mainly to trading, marketing deposits and the construction of service centers to provide added value to the different steels which are being produced throughout the world.

On the 1st October, 2002, our company merges and gains operation of Thyssen Aceros Argentina S.A. , adding the following to our product list:

  • Special Tool Steels, produced by “DEW” - DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE GmbH, Germany.
  • Special Wear-resistant Steel Sheets, produced by "TKS" - ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG, Germany, a subsidiary of our Motherhouse
  • Steels for Mechanical Construction, produced locally.

In the end of 2003 we started the first stage of the enlargement of our facilities (see pictures). On the 25th August, at a simple ceremony presided by our Company Director, the first half of Nave 2 was inaugurated. It presents a covered surface of 3,000 m2 and new domestic facilities such as kitchen, cafeteria, changing rooms and parking lot.

The second stage was completed in May 2006, adding another 3,000 m2 to Nave 2. With the purpose of enhancing the services available to our esteemed customers, we are planning the construction of Nave 3, adding a further 6,000 m2.

Following the lines of our Motherhouse, during the month of September 2006, we changed our name to ThyssenKrupp Fortinox S.A.
